Trying to talk myself out of the Tokina 12-24 f4

Ok so I am trying to talk myself out of buying this lens.

I bumped into sample images of this lens on pbase earlier today, and got curious. So I decided to check it out, and see what the qualiy of the images were. Then it was off to the canon forums where I found a link to a long discussion at Fredmiranda.com discussing this lens, along with sample images.

Then next thing I knew I was on B&H's site, Adorama's site, and TriState's site..
500 dollars for this lens, and about 50 bucks for nyc tax.
I had to fight myself off of the pc, and basically talk myself out of purchasing the lens.

I am going to save up the money, then purchase it. I don't want to spend the money I have right now because my bank account is looking healthy.

Anyhow, I like the contrast, and saturation from this lens.. As a non edited image I know that these will need to be bumped up a bit, but once the image is processed I like what I see. I was also impressed wih the sharpness of the image also. I didn't really get into a 10-22 v.s. 12-24 gimick, I just wanted to see what this lens could do on it's own.

Needless to say, this lens will be added to my stable soon.
Until then there are holes burnt in my pocket.

.........the nice thing about this Tokina lens is the constant f4 aperture.

BTW, is this lens compatible with full frame bodies??

I just got the tokina 12-24. I like it a lot.

So it's worth it? I want this or the Tamron 28-75/2.8. I do single car photography so I figured this might be better to start.

this would actually talk me out of both because I am now going to murder my bank account to purchase a 10-22... lol... no way .... that idea has been dead for a long time bro.

Well, I have the Tokina on back order from Adorama, but just sent an email asking to switch it over to the Canon 17-40L as that can be used on film bodies if need be and I'm not sure how much I'd use the much wider Tokina, 17mm seemed about as wide as I'd need, I owned the Tokina fixed 17mm, very nice lens btw! But sold it because I was going for a 16-35L but after getting two copies that didn't work right, got a refund and split the dollars into two lenses, have the Canon 200L f2.8, exceptional lens! and then had the tokina on backorder, but after much restless tossing and turning, I think I'll go with the 17-40 for now, later on if need be, and I find the 17 not wide enough, I'll either go the 12-24 or get the Canon 10-22 but that will be MUCH later as my wallet is in the hospital with a relapse of a bad case of emptiness, I only hope it pulls through :)

Ended up with the Tokina 12-24, nice lens, at first it caused an Err99 that shut down my camera :(
but with the help of Grant, he said to fit the lens on a few times to work in the contacts of the
lens and that made the difference, it hasn't caused a problem since that time, fingers crossed;
Here are two shots made, first at 24mm and second from same pov at 12mm, you can get so
much more information in with this lens it's amazing!

Just received the 10-22 today.
I tested a freind's before I bought-Fantastic/I was blown away.

That 12mm shot is fantastic. Very sharp.
I love my Tokina 17mm, but I've often wondered about that 12-24mm. The only thing I've had reservations about is the lens flare resistance, an aspect in which the 17mm really shines.
