Well got the new kit all set up and had a play.

Clouds were a pain in the a$$ and stopped me getting good images.

Lots of the subs in this series had mild cloulds rolling over them :( So surprised how they turned out.

Tried this shot of my old favorite, the Lyra Ring Nebula at 900mm with 3x Barlow on ISO 1600.

Amazed how the EQ6 mount tracked for 30 seconds with no problems.

Could not get PHD and the guide to work properly because of the clouds and it is so resource hungry.

Anyway, managed to get a play. 10 subs of 30 seconds each. Not great, but got the kit working and aligned nice :)

Need to work on my focusing and reduce my ISO with longer subs.

Nice effort. I looked outside last night and came straight back in again :-)

You should get to 3 minutes with the EQ6Pro unguided without too much effort. PHD is rather resource hungry but fantastic when you get it running.

A lot of jam!!!!!

Not in a ring doughnut though!! ;)

I mustn't look at your threads Cat, or I'll just want to go out and buy myself an EQ6 Pro!!

Go for it dude, they are well worth it.

If a rank newcomer of 3 weeks like me can do it, then anyone can. I do pick thinks up very quickly.

Currently in the process of linking in the Stellarium with my back garden superimposed in perfectly with the goto system. So use solarium to piccyback into the eq6 via Ascom and go where I click. Mixed in with guidance via PLC and shoestring USB I should have a fully working Goto / point and click along with guiding as 2 forms of PEC to choose out of if I wish.

Looking at Skywatcher 300p reflectors at the moment, but can't find a price for the scope only. Any idea's anyone ?

http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.aspx?sku=1017712 what do you want one of them for? Objects float past a big dob faster than you can shift them. Great for visuals once you get the hang of them but an imaging non starter. If you are after more reach you are into mak-newt territory http://www.pulsar-optical.co.uk/prod/telescopes/sky-watcher/Maksutov-Newtonian/190MN.html is fantastic but you would need to change the focusser to low profile to get it to focus with a DSLR 1m at f5.2 though

This is getting better ! I detect a slight trail in the enlarged section tho . You can add this to the others you already have also .
