I love the challenge of getting these. It's a lot easier with digital, not as much guessing as when I was using film. The 20D worked fine at -45 f, but the remote release cable froze solid after about five minutes, as did my butt. I’ve got a bunch more at www.theloves.smugmug.com (http://www.theloves.smugmug.com/)

These and the others on your site are awsome, how often do you get to see sights like these?

The photos here and in the gallery are beautiful. Would you be able/willing to share some exif data on these?

I use the attached chart as a starting point for exposure, weather I am using film or digital. A tripod is a must. The majority of the pics on the smugmug site were taken with film, and scanned in. The film was either Kodak 400/800 or Fuji 400. The exposures ran from 5 to 30 seconds, depending on the lens used. For the 20D pics I used a Sigma 28 1.8 (for the speed)
I live in North Pole Alaska, just south of Fairbanks, and yes there is a Santa Clause House. It gets pretty cold here, with about 3 hours of sun, and a couple of hours of dusk/dawn during the middle of December
The best times seem to be during the solstices, and it’s usually not as cold as the middle of winter. The coldest I’ve seen/felt it was -68 f. The only thing you can wear that keeps you warm is a house.

Fantastic shots. Visited North Pole last year, neat place. Used photos from the Santa shop on my Christmas card. I'm very impressed by your photos.
