I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to begin in photography. I've always enjoyed taking pictures and have come to a point in my life that I would really like to dedicate more time and effort to it. I don't really know anything at all - I have a small digital Canon 2100 cool pix. Is a digital camera better than film?
Any information that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated

Hi gizzi-la,

Glad to have you in our ranks. You might start by reading everthing you can on photography in general. See if there are any night school classes at a local community college or high school. And last but not least, shoot LOTS and LOTS of photos. I always have a camera handy and try to take somthing every day.
Hope this helps and good shooting.

Shoot a lot & read a lot. The "stickys" at the top here are a good place to start:

Be careful when listening to Photosguy. He uses T-squares and X-acto blades. And he really, really, really likes RAW.

:D:D Anyone who puts Nikkor lenses on a Canon can't be half bad, right! ;)
