I am thinking of purchasing a new Mac, my G4 is just not up to snuff and the internal hardrive is too small to have much processing power left after all my apps and photos are on there. I am getting alot of crashes and it takes forever to run some filters in PhotoShop. I do have an external harddrive for back up, but I do not want to run off of the back up.
I was wondering if I should go an 24" iMac or a G5 or a Mac Mini?
I am on a budget, but I do not want to have to upgrade anytime soon. I use CS4 so I need some good computing power. Right now I only have 15GB free.
Any suggestions?

I'd take a look at Apples online store. I'd go with the iMac. Either look in the refurb section for the latest generation iMacs, or look in the clearance section for the previous generation.

I agree - I purchased a iMac through the apple site - refurb - I have nothing but high praises for it.

I should also note that the clearance items are brand new and that they and the refurbs both carry the standard 1 year warranty and are eligible for Applecare.

I'm waiting for the next round of iMac updates. The hefty feature boost/price cuts we saw on the MacBooks yesterday should serve as a very favorable sign :D

Until then, I soldier on with my 1.42 Ghz G4 mac mini. Oh the humanity!

Thanks for the advice - I am thinking the iMac is the way to go.
Now to decide which one.

i read somewhere that photo editing on an imac is not a good idea as the gamma can never be calibrated correctly. or something or other. lol

I have purchased many Macs (iMacs, MacBook, MacBook Pro) with no problems. One of the iMacs actually came with a larger HD and better video - YMMV.

If you use CS4, forget about the G5.
Get a Intel DualCore Mac, either a iMac or an Intel MacMini.
