Recently I finished a post on nature(insect photography) and I was wondering whether it had everything that people would expect to find in an article

I like it. This is something I'm looking to begin very soon as I recently got a new Canon 100mm macro lens. Your examples are great, but what would be really helpful is a caption for each with ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and whether you used a flash, handheld, tripod, etc.

In general, a bit more specific detail on the technical aspects would be nice. What is a typical example of your ISO, aperture and shutter settings? My understanding was that macro is almost always done with a tripod and flash. However, in this case you suggest using neither. I had been struggling to imagine how to effectively use a tripod for anything but the slowest bugs anyway, but between no tripod and no flash, a high shutter speed and no image stabilization in the lens/camera (I assume), I would think you would end up fully open with a tiny DOF even while pumping the ISO sky high, except in the best of natural lighting conditions.
