Hi all, new to this forum, in fact pretty new to photography. Bought myself a 20D two weeks ago, in at the top eh?
I thought I'd post this picture just to get your thoughts as whether I should continue on with my new hobby or pay a quick visit to eBay! It was taken with a zoom lens at 80mm.

I would say you have no future at all in photography. By the way, what do you want for your USED equipment?

Next question - butterfly or moth?

Nice photo.

And welcome to the madness.

Thanks Dave, I'm taking that as a compliment - even if it wasn't meant to be! (Might be the only one I get)
Definately a butterfly - a Small Tortoiseshell if my schoolboy memory of buterflies hasn't deserted me. And if you need proof... www.butterflygarden.co.uk/butterflies/small_tortoiseshell.htm
As for joining the madness - great fun ain't it!

No need for a visit to eBay. Great shot. The antennae (spelling?) look amazing.

Very nice effort. Shoot, I was hoping to get the 20D at a good price.

I just hate it when a newbie takes perfect shots. How are you going to build character ( and maybe become one ) if you get it right the first time! Wonderful shot and welcome!

Even though i'm interested in your 20D, i can't lie. That's a nice butterfly shot. Great detail.

I like moths better but this guy is pretty furry and tough looking so I like this Butterfly :) Nice picture.

Lots of butterflies have antennae like that. The problem for the photographer is that often you are shooting with a long lens and the depth of field is very limited. As a result, you get one antenna in focus, and one out, depending on the angles.

Just thought I could upgrade my equipment at good price. It is a beautiful photo...

I had always been told that moths land with wings spread and butterflies land with wings up. That's the extent of my knowledge of the two. And that's wrong...:o
