I like the foggy look to this shot. Welcome to POTN.

It's a cool picture. I wish there wasn't the overlap of the cows and power line.

I'm not sure what your intention was with this photo. It's hazy, flat, seems a bit out of focus. I'm not finding anything of interest.

Here's a easy way to make any photo pop (assuming you have photoshop):

1. Create a copy of you layer
2. Change the top copy's blend mode to overlay
3. Lower the opacity to about 30-45% until you get a nice pop.
4. Repost for more c&c

I like it. The composition looks good to me, and the cow looking at the camera makes the shot. Kind of like, hey, what are you doing standing on my dinner? You do have a bit of a flatness problem.

Here's what I got from following gamecOmmander's recomendation of adding an overlay layer (at 89% opacity). When I did this, the whites on the front cow's head were blown out, as were the furthest two cows. To counter this, and give more life to those features, I painted directly on the overlay layer with a soft, dark grey brush, which brought back the underlying image and colors a bit.

I also added a levels adjustment layer setting the gamma at 0.94 and 38% opacity (made it generally darker). Finally, I did a curves adjustment to increase contrast. The curves might have been a bit of overkill.

For future reference you could have used the "edit" button on your original post to fix this issue. Other than it being hazy its a ok shot. While taking the shot I personally would have stepped a little to the right and shot left if possible to cut out that half a house on the right. I don't know if it would make it that much better, but I feel like it feels incomplete with only part of that object jutting in.

I like it, the fog gives it a nice watercolor affect.

Very rustic feel.I like it.just thought( just me) More fog and a tad desaturation would add to the rural feel?

Oh, I like your treatment here. Hmmm... foggier and grayer = rural feel. I'm taking notes, you know. ;) Works, though.

I like the original. It wouldv'e been cool if there was only the one cow looking at you in the shot. I'd clone out the power lines too.

Great edit, Flo! Much better than mine!

My .02. The air in the original is hazy, not foggy. I would just add a little
contrast. Power lines don't bother me, it's real. Is it a photograph of reality
or artwork? ;)

I'm with Gail's edit all the way. Everything a "Cow in Canada" shot should be - great title, had to look :-). Adding a crop from left...

I like the original shot myself... to many people want to screw up the photo in PP... Leave it as it is... great shot... opinions are like... do what you think looks good and don't worry about what anyone else thinks... everyone's a critic and most of the photogs in here are just as green as you...

Post processing takes place on every shot. It is either done by the camera, or done by the photog. If you shoot film, it is done by the lab. It is also what separates the stellar from the mundane. The suggestions offered can help a person to more accurately convey their intent.

Its C&C.we all get a go;) For better or worse...if it were posted in Pets or something, without asking for crtiq;s,so be it. It was posted here to see what people THOUGHT about it;)

I agree, its just fine as is...but it can be edited to be different.thats all.

While it's perfectly reasonable to prefer the original shot, it's frankly insolent to suggest people are being unreasonable in offering critique on the Critique Corner forum, or that in illustrating alternatives people expect the poster to do anything other than have a look and decided what looks good for themselves....

Below is just a suggestion on your image, and I always say if i can get some constructive criticism that will help me somehow then I want to be receptive to that comment/criticism. Nice work, Michel!

So I guess that nobody noticed that the cow on the left was actually from another shot... Good!!!
