I have been spending quite some time researching batteries and chargers and have decided to buy the La Crosse BC-900 charger and Eneloop batteries. I am interested in buying a couple La Crosse kits possibly that come with La Crosse batteries such as the BC-9009 that comes with 4 AA's and 4 AAA's. My question is, "How do the La Crosse batteries stack up against the Eneloops?". Am I better off buying just the charger and buying all Eneloops or are the La Crosse batteries just as good? I can't find any reviews on just the La Crosse batteries as the batteries are only sold with their chargers and not sold alone from what I have seen.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Roger

I bought the LaCross charger & batteries. I keep the LaCross batteries as back-up to Eneloop. I did not use the LaCross batteries yet.
This is probably no use to you.

I have the charger and use the batteries along with other brands.
When I bought my charger it was cheaper to go ahead and get the batteries with it.
I like my LaCrosse charger.

For non-LSD (Low Self Discharge), high performance batteries, I'd highly recommend Powerex 2700mAh over La Crosse batteries.
For LSD batteries, I'd highly recommend Powerex Imedions and Sanyo eneloops.

Thanks for the information everyone but it sounds as if know one knows very much about the La Crosse batteries. I can't find anything on the internet about them. I too planned to buy the batteries with the charger because it's cost effective. I was going to may buy 2 chargers but if the La Crosse batteries are inferior then I maybe can't factor them in to my stock of batteries to be used.
Thanks for all of the help,
Roger

SYS did a thourough test of several brands of batteries and his results are in the post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=677074) he made in the Flash Forum.
I have 16 of the MAHA Powerex 2700's ordered to use in a battery pack...and the 8 cell MAHA charger.
I'll know more next week.

I got the charger with the LaCrosse batteries. They didn't seem to be any better than your standard NiMH. In fact, I just threw out two of the AAA's today because their capacity was only about 150 maH even after a refresh on the charger.
If it were me, I'd just get the charger and spend the money saved on better batteries.

LaCrosse charger pack comes with 4 AAA batteries as well. However, AAA can't be charged by the charger itself. It is too long for AAA batteries and there is not shell for them.

What model do you have?
Mine came with the AAA too and yes I can charge them. You have to look close. It is possible.
Why would they give you AAA if you could not charge them?

The first picture on the Amazon page shows two AAA's being Charged next to two AA's.

The lacrosse batteries that come with the kit aren't very good. Eneloops will perform much better. You can choose whether you want them depending on the price.
And the lacrosse charger bc-900 and bc-9009 definitely charges AAA batteries.

+1 on the LaCrosse charger.
+1 that it can recharge AAA batteries.
+1 on keeping the LaCrosse batteries as backups - I use these in TV remote controls, not important stuff.

I have the BC900. with its ability to refresh batteries....it almost doestn matter what type of bettery you use because it will keep them in good shape. I bought a 20 pack of Sunpacks from Amazon and rotate them out....works great.
