I have an older G4 white iBook maxes at 1.25 gb ram with a 133 ghz processor. I installed a 5400 HD a couple of years back. Lightroom and PSE is terribly slow. Even when exporting a large sum of photos. Will I see a major speed increase with the new 15 inch macbook pro? I plan on the highest processor with 4gb ram. Opinions please.

Yes, you'll probably see 8 to 10 times better performance.

1.33GHz PowerPC G4 vs a 2.8GHz Intel dual core?

It's glaringly obvious that any of the current production MacBook Pros will be a huge leap from a PowerPC G4 processor.

And don't forget the gains in the architecture: faster motherboard chipset, faster buses, faster video, better hard drives.

My first Mac was a 500MHz iBook (white, USB). Then it was a PowerBook G4 800MHz (Titanium). Then a 13" MacBook (white, Core Duo). Now I have a 13" MacBook Pro (bought a couple days ago). The new MBP design is awesome.

Not everyone is a computer geek. ;)

Neither is he, no computer geek would be caught dead with a macbook (unless it had windows, unix, linux, or some random thing like dos);)

OS X is BSD UNIX and fully complies with the UNIX standard. And many computer geek's use Mac's. How else can you be obfuscated while writing a Windows exploit/virus and not worry about being infected? You don't think those nerdy guys at the local Starbucks are writing manuscripts do you? Their stealing your Internets ;)

And to the OP... It will be like night and day. You'll start a batch job and start getting up for a cup of coffee and it'll be done :D

Ever since OS X was released, more IT professionals have migrated to Macs for personal laptops and or workstations.

This is a noticeable trend at my organization, the University of California. We have an annual Computing Services Conference which involves IT personnel from all the UC campuses. Ever since OS X came out in 2002, the number of attendees with Mac laptops has steadily increased every year. In my group, which is composed of Systems Administrators and Security, basically all of us run OS X or some Linux for our laptops (ubuntu is the most popular), and a couple of Windows laptops, mainly because they are involved in a couple of Active Directory projects.
