I came across this tool (also comes as photoshop plugin) for retrieving details from underexposed areas of a photo and also for haze/smoke reduction.

Here are some samples:

Was wondering if you've heard about it and have any experience using it.
Thanks!

If you have PSCS, the Shadow/Highlight tool will do basically the same thing for you.

Thanks PacAce for the reply. No I don't have PSCS, I have PS 7.0. Is there something in PS 7.0 that I can do to simulate what Shadow/Highlight feature does in CS?

Yes, I agree, the Highlight & Shadow option in PS CS will do a similar thing - It's got me out of trouble a few times :)

Yeah, all it looks like it's doing is a level adjustment and sharpening. Look at all the noise in the shadows (Star Trek example).
It might be handy if you don't have PS, but it by far isn't a miracle worker. (data lost is data lost)
