I have a Power shot s5is and my daughter is graduating next week, I want to know if I video everything can I take pictures off the video later

You can get screen grabs from the video, which is much lower resolution than the photos and will not look reasonable printed.

Best to take photos as well as video, or borrowan additional video or still camera.
