I have a BG-E2 that has the low battery indicator problem but not the seperation error problem. Does the battery display just show that the batterys are low or does that camera actually react that way and stop working after 400 shots or so? If it just a display problem I know that 2 batteries will get me almost 2000 shots so it isn't a big deal , if the camera shuts down with fully charged batteries that will be a problem. The most I have shot at one time with my 20D so far is about 300 images so I wanted to ask this question before I get out in the good weather. JimC

I seem to have much better battery life with my grip if I use only one battery at a time. It also makes the rig a little lighter to handle. I will, however, get the grip circuitry fixed when Canon comes out with the promised repair program.

Mine shut down when it ran the first (of two installed) batteries down. Didn't matter that the second one was fully loaded. But I couldn't say if it ran down faster than it would have if I hadn't been using the grip, since I wasn't counting frames/battery.
