I found this old derelict hospital building a couple of years ago, but don't know which shot I prefer - what do you think?

I'm usually a fan of B&Ws over color. However, in this case I prefer the color shot.

I too have always preferred black and white but in this case the color jumps.

I prefer the color also. I might like the black and white more if it were less contrast. It seems a little intense to me.

I like both.
Try the rusted roof (great color) with the B&W window wall. I think that would stand out!:D

I like the first one. The color really adds a lot of character that gets lost in the B&W.

I still prefer the color one. I'm almost certain it's due to the rusty roof. You lose that with the others.

The colour version is by far the more successful; the yellow-green of the doorway in the background is linked to the tones in the weathered exterior paint in the foreground, leading the eye deep into the imagined three-dimensional space of the picture. This psychological spacial illusion is largely lost when the image is rendered in B+W or sepia tones--even though the resulting images are still tonally and graphically interesting.
My take on it, for what it's worth.
Good work.

OK, how about these two variations, both in B&W with the rusty roof?

Excellent (the one w/ just the roof in color) but after looking at the sepia version, I think the rusted roof in sepia version will be a keeper!! That's my final answer. -
Excellent shoot.

For those of you who have noticed I changed my avatar, I received a request to do so as it was felt my original avatar was unsuitable for family viewing. I have no problem with making the changes, as I wouldn't wish to upset anyone.
Thanks again everyone for your opinions and comments.

I like the original B&W one you have post becuase there is a really strong sence of contrast which is usualy more favorible for B&W because if you have a strong sence of light in a color shot, you loose some of the colors luster with the strong highlight and shadow. I know a good amount of color photographers that only go out to take pictures when there is a good amount of over cast out.
I also love the sepia version. I have a weekness for sepia... :) .
Keep up the good work.
