Cars and Girls

I went out to a fun event where they had a bunch of exotic cars running on a runway for top speed. I raced my bike (Kawi Concours) against a Porche GT. The girl driving the GT caught and passed me at about 175mph.

Anyway, it rained later in the day so we thought it would be a good time to have the models come out :)

Nice photos. What caused the blotches on the girls skin in the first photo? Some areas of their skin looks very brown.

Look at the top half of the girls in #2. The processing for the sky has also made them darker. Using Layer Masks will allow you to choose where you don't want global changes made:

the 3rd is hot..Watch it with the HDR on people...sometimes makes the pic look fake

vr6pwns_me - The first image is not HDR, I just messed with the curves a bit. The second is a 5 exposure HDR. The third is a single raw file tonemaped.

Jane The Dog - Not sure what caused the blotchyness on the girl's skin in the first? I could probably do some skin smoothing to touch that up.

PhotosGuy - I think I could just to a little bit of dodging to fix the girls tone. I think it probably happened due to the tone mapping on that image.

My bike tops out at around 185 or so and the GT upwards of 200 so we weren't in any danger of doing damage to the motors.

In the first i think the car on the left reduce the maximum impact of this photo.

I like the expression on every shot of the central girl.

Great cars and great girls ;) But in my opinion HDR doesn't work well on the human skin. the middle girl in the last shot looks like she has some rare skin condition on her stomach... :eek:

Alessandro2009 - Yes I agree, I should have shot that first one more straight on like the last so the other car was not in the image. We had all the cars lined up and we just had the girls go from car to car so we could get a bunch of shots in quickly in between rain drops.

Sorry You don't like the shots ridan. I think the skin on the girls in the middle shot looks pretty good, other then possibly being a little dark like photosguy pointed out. Liek I said I don't shoot people much so I have to figure out the best technique for making the skin look good.

Thanks for the CC all. I re-processed that last one. I did an hdr for the car and background and then processed the raw file again without the hdr for the girls and blended the two layers. I think the girls look better in the new version. What do you think?

Wow! Hot cars!

I can see why many have been commenting on the girls, but with that crap lighting, I feel you were fighting against poor odds to begin with. So well done for trying to shoot people, who you yourself said you don't shoot much.

And I agree that the last shot looks the "smoothest", but still, there are issues with how the girls now look like they're floating.

Just goes to show that lighting is king...........and then comes sports cars!

I have a comment. It's not really related to the composure, but the girls are wearing US flag bikinis only in a shot with an Italian car...

Maybe this is a marketing reasons or perhaps there are other shots where wearing the same costume but the author has not yet sent.

We did a shoot for a few Corvettes with the girls in the flag suites. The owner of the Lambo and the Atom wanted some photos with the girls in those suites too. I like the colors of the flag suites with the yellow car best.
