Took a drive yesterday to the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail outside Gatlinburg, Tn. There were many wildflowers growing in this lush environment. Here are just a few.

The first is Dwarf Iris, but I don't know the name of the second (possibly a variety of Paper Whites?)

Nice shots as always, Stan. We have the dwarf iris here in Arkansas too. They are beautiful flowers. BTW, sounds like you are having a blast on your tour. I'm SOOOO jealous!!

Thanks everyone. As Richard surmised, we are having a ball visiting the NC mountains. This is where my wife and I honeymooned (in 1963) and we always enjoy coming back to this area.

Nice shots... Trilliums are hard to get good shots of cause they are shaded a lot of the time. I just found a huge patch in the woods near my house, so many its hard to walk around them without stepping on one.

These were very much shaded. I used a 75-300 mm lens, which isn't that fast, but it did the job very well. To use a shorter lens would have meant walking into the plants. At 300 mm, I was able to stay on the road and shoot plants several feet or more away.
