Hi hatchmodog,
I own a Powershot A40 and I use a 64MB unbranded card at it works fine. There are many different companies that make them and I think it doesn't matter who you buy from. The main thing to consider IMHO is card size. Depending on how many pictures you want to take and the quality settings then go for the biggest sized card you can afford. Also if you want to use the movie mode, you'll need a big card as they fill up very quickly recording movies.

I have a PowerShot A20 and a Compaq Ipaq. I've bought a Lexar 256 MG CF Card one year ago and it's working fine in both machines.
I am quite happy with it.
I bought it in a spanish web, I think it will be to expensive to deliver it to you from spain, but it was a great price.
