Trying to open some RAW files taken w/ the 20D, CR2 files, on Photoshop Elements, which came w/ the 20D package, and I'm having no luck. Do you need to convert the images before they can be viewed?? What's the scope?

Only PE3 supports RAW, not Elements 1 and 2.

Did anyone else get Photoshop Elements 2.0 with their 20D?

PE3 won't open CR2 files from my XT ATM. :(

I beleive an update is in the works and will be out soon.

I have to use DPP for my RAW files.

So, it needs to be converted to .Tiff first, then edit w/ Photoshop? Thanks!

I beleive its the best solution for now. I can't wait to do it all from E-3 though.

In the meantime you can download Raw Shooter from this site, it's an excellent raw converter and it's free. I think it only works on PC's, no Macs.

Robert,

I think the AMD problems have been fixed with the latest update, if your an AMD user give it a try, you can't beat the price.

In summary:

- PS Elements 2.0 does not support RAW at all
- PS Elements 3.0 and PS CS do support RAW, but if you have the 20D you might need to download an update for Adobe Camera Raw from Adobe's website (the current version is 2.4)
- The 350D / Rebel XT is not (yet) supported in version 2.4 of Adobe Camera Raw
- There are rumours that support for the 350D / Rebel XT will only be added to Camera Raw 3.0, which will only work in PS CS2 and Elements 3.0 (so if you have CS you're screwed!)

The problem with RawShooter essentials 2005 on AMD processors has been solved weeks ago, I've been using it on my AMD Athlon XP without any problems.

I didn't get Elements 2.0 with my 20D. I didn't want it and gave it to the clerk in my camera store so he could try it out.

Well, there is a difference between not getting it and getting it and giving it away. I almost gave mine away to someone at work because I had PSE3 and boy am I glad I didn't. My upgrade to CS2 should be coming by Friday! :D

Thanks for the info Jesper.

I'm trying to update RawShoter to the latest version, and the site tells me that they will send me a link through my e-mail, but I haven't received anything yet (2 days).

I have subscribe to their forums, and it too is suppose to send me a password, but no luck either.

Been hearing a lot about RawShooter lately. How is it compared to Canon's DPP.

Thanks

I use Photoshop Elements 3.0 as is straight out of the box and did not have to download any kind of update from Adobe. I look at and convert all of the raw images from my 20D with no problem.

Could your ISP be blocking it as junk mail?

ACR support for the 20D was released by Adobe under Photoshop downloads on 1/31/05 and Elements downloads on 2/17/05 so if your version is older than that you would need to download it from Adobe's site. I downloaded from the PS site as soon as it was released and it worked fine with PSE3.

I'll try with my ISP acount later and will let you know.

Thanks for your help. :)

No problem. Some providers are going to extraordinary lengths to stop spam even if it tramples legitimate emails. Good luck!

That was it. I received an e-mail to my ISP acount faster than I had time to start Outlook :)

Thanks again.
