Hi POTNers

Here's the story. I'm second shooting for a friend next weekend. The bride asked me to be the main photographer but i kept repeating to her "I'm not a professional, I'm not a professional". After a while, she got the message and hired a professional. (thanks to all the wisdom i've learned from POTN)

Anyways, I still get to be the second shooter. I also have the responsibility to carry emergency items with me since I will be with the wedding party for the whole day. Now I'm not talking about EpiPens or a defibrillator. But things like sani-wipes, water, drinking straws, sewing kit, cloth pins, allergy pills, Tylonol or Advil.

Sometimes having a simple small item can make a big difference. So let's hear what you got and the reason why.

An extra pair of pants.

I split mine at one wedding since I made a stretching move that the pants no longer agreed with.

Called my sister to bring me a new pair while I continued to shoot.

This is my worst nightmare, that my dress gets caught or my pants split. But I lost some weight recently, and that's not so probably anymore. :)

As far as extras, I always leave some food in the car, you never know if a granola bar is going to save your sanity.

Other things I take are safety pins, bobby pins, rubber bands, and Post-its. If you have to ask me what accessory I was without that I wish I had a couple of times, it would have to be the diffusers I normally don't carry with me. There are shots, that stupid Fong thing works for me and I hardly ever take it with me.

That's a good idea. I'll pack an extra set of clothes in the car. I'll probably need a change of clothes around dinner time anyways.

Food is also a good idea. Probably something easy to eat, nothing that melts in the sun, does not leave you with sticky fingers.

Would crazy glue work on torn fabric?

Last two suggestions are good. I always carry mints with me in my purse. At one wedding, I thought it was my breath and took a mint right away, as my camera started to smell. Then I realized it was the person next to me and the mint didn't help. :(

You can always offer a mint to someone but offering a Speed Stick may be awkward.

Coming from a job where I'm required to wear a uniform that looks sharp: a small lint roller.

Sounds like they've turned you into what we called a "gofer" in the Navy... You know; go fer this, go fer that...

The one thing I wanted most on the last wedding I shot was someone else to do the photography so I could go home...
