Boulder Flatiron - April 30, 2005 7:30 MDT. Canon S500, manual, ISO50. I am wishing winter would go away! The larger black area on the mountain side is one of the several flatiron formations - highly tilted beds of nearly flat sandstones. Fifteen to 20 miles east of Boulder, CO, these same sandstone beds are like 20,000 feet below the surface of the earth. Full size image, no additional processing.

Very cool (no pun intended) pics!!! Boulder is my hometown and you've captured the flatirons in Winter very appropriately IMO.

Riaz suggested a white balance would help my picture. Here is the result of automatically removing the excess blue component using Picture Window Pro 3.5 - thanks Riaz. I took the picture in the evening, under a darkening gray sky, as a first test of the low light capabilities of the S500.

Nice shot. As a fellow Coloradoan, I like the moisture, but I wish spring would come back.

ah, much better. yeah shooting at dusk on an overcast day will do that every time ;) . a very beautiful landscape, i hope to be able to make it out that way this summer to shoot myself.
