Hi everyone,
I'm quite new to these forums and photography in general. Actually, this is my first post!

I will be in Shanghai this summer, where the total eclipse will be visible. The longest lens I own is about 100mm (on a crop body). I read on previous posts that I should buy a solar filter before pointing the lens at the sun. Does that filter just go on directly on a canon lens?

What's the best way to go about getting the shots of the sun if I'm not to look at it through the viewfinder?

Any tips/advice is much appreciated. I have 2 weeks before I leave.
