Today i went back again, to catch the blue heron that i posted yesterday. I remember someone here mentioned about water birds are quite territorial. They often go back to the same place for food. So i wanted to make up what I lost yesterday.
Today, it was a great day...... :)

In case you are interested in Episode 1, here it is http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=70749

Thanks for looking.

Sorry I missed that first thread cfc,.. glad you got back there for more shots...

These are fantastic! the lighting,. the details,. the moments captured! Just wonderfull!

It is indeed a "Green Heron" fyi.. (in this lighting you really can see the green) ...and a very tough to Heron to get photos of. Well done!

That compliment really means a lot to me, CDS. :D
You are right. Compared to yesterday's shot, it looked alittle more blue'ish in low light (late evening). But today, it was sunny, great lighting.
Thanks for looking.

Keep going back! My first spring/summer with the 10D I ended up building a bit of a rapport with a great blue heron.. and got some nice pics to show for it :)

The Green herons are really beautifull,. the coloring can vary so much because of the irridescent quality.

Wait till you see that little Green guy stick his neck out all the way! :)

Thanks for the kind words CDS, tupe. She was my first water bird shot. :D
I appreciate the advice, CDS. I'll keep that in mind. ;)

WOW. Very sweet cfcRebel!

I missed a heron here because I did not have my gear. IT was a perfect set up. She was fishing with soem excellent result. She was super close. It was perfect golden sunlight time. She was doing this right on the edge of a spot where the stream dropped about 1.5 feet and All I was thinking was how cool would a long exposure shot look withg her standing still with the water falling all blurred from the long AV with the golden rays of light refelcting off the water and the beautiful green streambed....ARRRG NO FLIPPIGN CAMERA!!! Not even my P&S. I could have damn near kicked this bird she was so close. LOL I am a bone head! I wont even tell you about the huge redtailed hawk that I missed the other day.

Self Mental note...Bring a camera at all times you MORON!

Was this shot with your new lens?

Noni, RJ, Dante, RockOne, SixShot, Stan, thank you so much!

.....Self Mental note...Bring a camera at all times you MORON!.....
LOL! I know what u mean. Ever since i picked up photography, i realized I've missed alot of great opportunities out there. So now i try to bring my camera all the time.
Was this shot with your new lens? That's right. The EF 100-300mm surrpised me with good result this time. In low lighting, it ptobably won't do as good.

Did you have to wait long to get it?
I think i waited 20, 25 minutes until she came down from a tree nearby, and started hunting the fish in swallow part of the pond.

Thanks Tammie.
Studying Scottes' Wildlife Photography Tips does help me tremandously. The following statement from him has already been tattoo'ed into my brain. :D
"Hunch down or even squat, and move like that. .... Don't be afraid to crawl - that's why washing machines were invented."

Raj, Dan, thank you for the compliment. I am slowly, but surely, getting used to the lens now. Raj, i think i finally understand what it can and can't do. So i'll adjust my expectation accordingly. ;)

Dan, i'm sure you'll like it. Now, let's save up and get our 70-200 f4L for Christmas! LOL!
