I am just wondering on the following:

-is there a program that makes looking for dead pixels easier?
-what is you method for looking for dead pixels?
Thanks,

It strikes me that if you have to use a program to find dead pixels that are not obvious to the eye, then what's the point?

You'd be surprised.

I would not be surprised that dead pixels are there--I'd be surprised that there aren't any.

But again, if you don't notice them, what's the point of searching for them?

You'd be surprised.

No. I wouldn't.

LOL!

Some people use program, I've seen people recommend them in hardware based forums.

Some people use some sort of wave 3d to scope out dead pixels.

sorry, meant to say, some sort of 3d wave motion graphics to scope them out.

No. I wouldn't.

Well, since several people/companies have gone through the trouble to create software to locate and identify the actual element (Red Green or Blue) that is dead, stuck or faded it may not be as easy for some people that don't have your eagle eye's. I had a faded green pixel element on a $1000 monitor and this software found it quickly and I sent it back the same day. Normally, I may have not noticed for several days until the right color hit the upper right of the screen.

agreed.

and in addition, you bought a monitor with your hard earned cash. the least you can do is expect nothing short from a perfect copy of your monitor.

If you don't see them,
you don't care :)

what I would do is make the whole monitor display white and any anomalies will show up much more easily. Then switch to black to find again (especially white dead pixels, and it will help find lighter dead pixels)

There is no software that will "detect" dead pixels for you, because its a hardware side thing and software can't detect it, it would rely on you.

Any program that may exist will probably switch thru colors, which you can do with MSpaint or the mac equivalent (I forgot what its called...)

PS: an app that can FIX a dead pixel can be found here: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php it switches colors extremely fast, in attempt to "stimulate" that pixel back into life.

I have used PiXel Check on my Mac, free and gets the job done:

After spending good money on a display its nice to make sure all is well.
