I am thinking of getting a asus eee pc 1000H and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it for storing images on the road and using DPP with it for tethered shooting. I could load Image Ingester for xp and Canon DPP etc for xp and use it like that. And maybe the larger screen of the 1000 H would work out with tethered shooting. I use a mac at home with PS CS4 and II for Mac X, so I guess I would then copy off of the 160gb drive onto my mac using usb, and then go ahead as usual. What do you think?
Thanks
Jonathan

The orginal E-PC has a screen that is to low a res for DPP.

What's the screen res on the 1000H?

I'm going to bed right now, but if you can wait until tomorrow I could give it a try on my S10. It's about the same as the eeePC, but I upgraded to 2GB of memory and a 7200RPM HDD. I'll check back tomorrow and see if you've gotten any firm answers.

OS: Window XP Home
Screen: 10" 1024x600 (WSVGA)
Memory: 1gb, I would upgrade to 2
Internal HD: 160gb

From a few comments on other sites:
I don't think Canon has any software for linux. This netbook also can be had with window xp. Then I could install DPP and use it that way. But I am interested in anyone who has actually used this netbook for this purpose.
I have been using one with the 9 inch screen and XP for about three months as a travel companion. You have to boost the screen resolution(an option) to use Lightroom, and that means you can't see the entire LR screen without scrolling.
That said, I use ImageIngester and Lr and my processed images look about the same as those from my desktop. I do recommend buying a separate USB mouse.
Oops, I meant to add that I have also done some tethered shooting, but the small screen does limit you. If you need a large image to view, look to the larger screen sizes.
I found a 1000 H used near me for $250. with windows xp on it. I could load II for xp and Canon DPP etc for xp and use it like that. And maybe the larger screen of the 1000 H would work out with tethered shooting. I use a mac at home with PS CS4 and II for Mac X, so I guess I would then copy off of the 160gb drive onto my mac using usb, and then go ahead as usual. What do you think?
I could not install DPP on my 1024x600 10" netbook.
The software said it required 1024x768, or something like that.
Mine is the LG X110-L. If anyone managed to install do let us know.
I did manage to install ACDSee Pro2 with ease though.
I have not tried to link an external monitor, perhaps trick XP to install as the resolution should be sufficient.
Although using a netbook to do PP is possible, its very slow. I'm now in France and using this netbook as an external HDD for storage and pic management.
From the Asus 1000H review:
Asus includes a Windows utility that lets you adjust the screen resolution to 800 x 600 pixels if you need a 4:3 aspect ratio. You can also choose a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, but since the display is only capable of showing 1024 x 600 pixels, you will either have to scroll your mouse up and down to see the top and bottom of your screen or use LCD compression to squash a few extra virtual pixels on the screen.
Maybe this would allow the DPP to load.
