I'm purchasing the new 15 inch MBP. The standard intel processor is 2.53 ghz. The mid is 2.66 and highest is over 3. I will be making the 4 GB memory option along with a 7200 drive (I also do music production in different locations). Will the larger chip make a big performance difference with programs like Lightroom and PS? I'm actually happy with the performance of Logic Pro 8 (audio) on my 1.33 ghz G4 ibook...so Anything faster will be fine. But Lightroom and PS are way slow.

I would get the fastest processor you can afford. You may not need it now but in a few years you may wish you had it. I doubt you would see much real worl difference between the three but the 2.53 doesn't come with the 9600GT graphics card. (if you need that)

Buy the fastest processor that you can afford right now... im sure that when they upgrade this mbp in 6-8 months, the new standard will be 2.53ghz.

i wouldnt spend money on the ram and the hard drives as they are self serviceable. buy the ram and the hard drive from newegg.ca or whatever computer store you'd like. You'll save money, and have additional parts in case things go wrong. the extra internal can become an external for extra space on the go.
