Does anyone use this stand for the AB B400 flash unit? The stand isn't much money at all and I was considering purchasing it when I purchase the B400, but was kind of curious as to how it holds up as I'll be using the B400 in remote areas and would like to make sure I have a reliable stand.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Chase,
I just bought some AB stuff, and I got both that stand and the 13' one. Looks to me that the 3050 ( 10' ) would work fine for the lights as long as you are not planning on doing the boom arm and/or big softboxes. Seems like it would be fine with just the flash and probably okay with the lighter weight umbrellas. You said 'remote locations'....you probably better plan on sandbagging the feet or having an assitant hold it steady for you.

the 10ft stands can not support softboxes or booms as stated, only umbrellas
13ft stand can support the addition weight .

Thanks for the reply. At this point, I doubt I'll need the boom arm or any softboxes, but I may go with the 13' one just incase I do plan end up purchasing additional accessories. It'd be nice to have something that can handle the additional weight rather than having to purchase a brand new one down the road.

That looks like a nice stand with it's air cushion.....be aware that it is rated for only 10 lbs and has a 36 inch footprint. Might want to consider bigger/heavier duty for softboxes/boom arm.

I have the 9ft version and it works just fine with boomed beauty dishes and softboxes.

I'm sure there are lots of folks who have used stands that are not rated for the job and got away with it. All I am saying is that one should at least consider the weight ratings that the manufacturer states for a given stand. You would not want that fancy softbox and studio light toppling over on your lovely model mayhem girl, now would you..:D;):o

Haha true, most of the time I have someone with me while I'm shooting, you know, just as a safety precaution.

Thanks for the link. Doesn't look like a bad product for the price. I'll look into it.
