Hi, my husband is working in Brevard for the summer, so I'll be visiting for a little over a week. Since he'll be working most of the time, I'll get to explore on my own. I'll definitly hit Pisgah and do some waterfall photography, but any other ideas of where I should go for great picture outings? Tips on times of day welcome too. Thanks!

As you probably already know, the gorge is gorgeous (sorry). Unfortunately, the road is so narrow there's very few places to pull over. Don't overlook the parkway. Just about anywhere in the Nantahala is beautiful. Great Smokey Mountain park is within reach. One thing I have found that works well is to not pick the well-known targets everybody else migrates to. Explore the backroads. The farms, pastures, fields, old decaying buildings and tobacco sheds, etc., etc. are great opportunities. Also, Joyce Kilmer is relatively within reach and it's an incredibly beautiful opportunity almost any time of year. The vivid "new growth" green will probably be gone by now, but still a great place to go. Hope that helps. Have fun and post some shots in the sharing forums.
