Either that deer has some BIG ticks on it, or it looks like maybe your lens got something on it.

They almost look like water droplets. Are they the same on all photos?

Ok.. Look at these 3 photos. In the Goose picture there is a big white dot on its head.

The pattern is exactly the same on the first and fourth picture. There is something on or in your lense.

The "spots" in the deer pics look like flies. In the goose pic, it looks like the goose just has a white spot on the side of its head. Did you get a shot of the same goose with no white spot?

Every once in awile I get a picture with a white spot like your goose photo (maybe 3 times in 2600 shots). It's as if there is an intermittent hot pixel. The deer one looks like the animal may have sneezed and ... well ... :)

I took 4 pics and that was the only one with the dot

Well she didn't sneeze, she wasn't really moving much, and its not water no anything else.

If this is Dust, Would it be White? Could this be caused by the intensity and direction of the sun making dust on the sensor very visible?

I do not think it is dust on the sensor.

In a dark room, when your flash fires, you can get white spots showing in the near field of the flash, and that is often dust in the air. However, these shots are not in a dark room.

It looks like you were shooting into the sun on all these. I would think it's something on your lens that is picking up the light at certain times. Have you tried any other lens?

Something on the lens wouldn't be that sharply defined, especially when the focal point is so far away. If you look at the crop of the deer, it looks like some "spots" are getting direct sunlight while others are in the deer's shadow. They look like flies to me.

Sure it was the same goose in all 4 pics?

Hmmm.. I guess its a mystery, I'll have to do some more tests and cleaning to find the problem..

Thanks to everyone for the Help

I have had my Canon 20D, only since Feburary 05, I took some pictures of some geese two weeks ago, and I had the white dot show up on the back of the neck on one of the geese, the very next picture showed it also, but I would have to think, this goose just has the spot on its head. rw
