View Full Version : WORLD WIDE PHOTO WEEK: Part 169 - Shooters Choice
joayne
15th of June 2009 (Mon), 12:15
Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This week the theme is "Shooters Choice". Be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme -- the sky's the limit!
Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO DAY INDEX (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)
That's it! Have fun!

Well I just checked what the topic is and while doing so I heard this loud rattling and then lost power to my home (no internet) So I look out side on this 72* day and what I saw was a surprise and figured hmm.... maybe grab a photo for the Shooters Choice.

That's some good-sized hail, John!
Was it still hailing when you took the shot?
Is that what that white circle is at the post, falling hail?

15th of June 2009 (Mon), 19:26
joayne,
Thanks :)
Luckily I can recharge my batteries now
BLS,
Yes it was still hailing (one even hit me when I took the photo, damn it hurts), and yes the white circle is falling hail in the air. They were about nickel size but a few quarter size ones. Is it June 15? ??? With all the hail it looked like November

kandyredcoi,
As long as you were the shooter and it was your choice, then I would be tempted to say it fits the category :)

Monty, I'm liking the series. Are those posts for keeping the shoreline on the shore?
Thank you Spud.. Too bad the compression has smoothed the petals out a bit, the original file of course looks better :)

European Brown Bear. I am in Finland, close to the russian boarder rigth now to shoot bears. I don't have many good shots because of bad weather and lack of bears :-(
But I like this one of a bear that got scared and ran away from us.

That's really colorful Spud! I like the greens and yellows, against the blue sky.
So, anyone have suggestions for the coming week?
So far I have thought of:
1 Summer, as it is the first day of summer (depending on your calendar)
2 Recreation (as it is summer, there are lots of recreation opportunities)
3 Relaxation (as summer is a time for vacation and relaxation)
anyone sensing a theme here :)
Give us your suggestions
............. and Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there! Hope you all have a great day.

Tommy that Bear shot is surreal!
Spud decent HDR.
Joayne this is part of Fort Fisher - a confederate fort. The original rocks and pilings were put in place during the civil war, the current riprap/pilings were put in during WWII as part of a coastal defense system.
And Looking at the choices -- Looks like Summer is it!
One more from Fort Fisher the other day.

Well the story goes...we had a cat that adored playing board games with us. we would always give him his own piece and would play for him while he adored us. He passed at a ripe old age in January and by mid february we got a new kitten. Yesterday we played our first board game since our Puck died and we were thrilled to have Tailspin join us, even tho he was a little more rambunctious than Puck had ever been.
checking out the pieces:

Well.. just WOW. Well worth whistling and waiting for. Love the DOF, love the eyes and the curiosity.
Great back story Crissa. It is tough to lose our loved ones, but you have a new companion and board player.
Great shots!

Are you in a blind out in the snow? Quite the adventure.
I was in a photo blind but not in snow. Even though it is high north in Finland close to Russia (actually in nomans land between Finland and Russia) it is summer there. Unfortunately we had bad weather and did not see many bears.
After uploading this photo I found out the whitebalance is wrong so I will be replacing the photo with the correct one soon.

Who cares about white balance, when you get such a great shot, and the bear is not running at you!! :)

Thanks. I actually think we scared it by making to much noise inside the blind :( It was running away from us in this shot.
EDIT: My photos is now uploaded here. (http://photo.klein-jensen.dk/ee/list.php?exhibition=59&u=&ee_lang=eng)
