The HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship was at Croft for rounds 13, 14 and 15 last weekend. It's the biggest car meeting that the circuit will get this year, so I was really looking forward to going.

#1 A very pretty BMW 320si

#2 The mad Clios were out doing their thing.....

#3 One or two came to grief, but just didn't know when to stop!

#4 Close Porsche racing into the Complex

#5 Pushing hard into Sunny In

#6 Ginetta G50 racing - these could become the modern day Tuscans if they can increase the grid sizes.

#7 Most of the racing over the weekend took place in glorious sunshine. However, there was a little shower just before the start of the final touring car race.....

#8 Andrew Jordan, being in the middle of the pack, had just a little spray to deal with.

All of the shots were taken with a Sigma 500mm prime, with either a 1D mk II or a 40D stuck on the end.

As usual, any comments or feedback would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Simon.

I'm so glad you got the rain you wished for after i buggered off to watch race 3 on TV :D

Hard to pick a favourite from these Simon but it would be either the locked-up Porker or Paul O'Neill leading them down the straight in race 3. Shame his alternator packed up..

I couldn't believe that Clio was allowed to continue for 3 or 4 laps with that damage. I got the crash that caused it up at Tower but it's an extremely long shot from the infield and the haze has done it's worst...

Top stuff, love them all, rain shots are great and the lock up of the Prosche very cool.

Nice set of varied shots Simon, it does look at tad moist at the end, pick for me has to be either the stream of Ginettas or the one of Paul O'Neil.

Cheers

Great shots! I think I might have to upgrade to a 500.

I can really see a difference between what I took with a 70-200 last weekend. I've got those posted, but no one has commented, (must all be crap) LOL!

That last shot is the one for me, we may hate it but rain does make for some great shots.

Any chance you could post an unprocessed/un sharpened shot of no, 1,3 or 4 please? just wondered ow much sharpening you've done on them.

Thanks

Stu

Not all together what this proves, but here's a 100% unsharpened crop of the bumper area of #3. All it's had is a straight conversion from the raw file with no sharpening applied.

Thanks for that Simon, I was just interested as your shots always impress me with the amount of detail the 500 captures.

Cracking images Simon. Herron's Clio saw some action! I think the shot of Jordan in the rain is the pick of the bunch for me well captured in that monsoon downpour. The shot shows off the terrible driving conditions which are not always appreciated when watching on the box although on this occasion...
