1st is better - good job - but then I really like old logs in the middle of the desert :)

#1 is good, the log adds a lot to the shot, #2 is kinda dull. Which desert?

Number one would look better with a longer depth of field. I'd like to see those bushes in focus.
The colors could also use some saturation enhancement.

#1 is nice, but I think it would benefit if shot with a much wider lens with great DOF.

By the looks of the log and the grass, i am guessing beach rather than desert :D :D

You could be right. The wave patterns look more fluvian than aeolian.

On the top of the sand dune you can almost make out some sort of blue blur at the top, which might indicate water. Nice sand pictures no matter what it is.

Foto's were taken in the Netherlands in a kind of "desert" it is a big sand area in the middle of the wood.
We are a small country, but have a beautiful nature area in the east of Holland.
We call it "De Veluwe". I live in this area and have great opportunities to take photos.
In this area there is a national nature park see: www.hogeveluwe.nl
I never go to the nature park because I think the area around it is nicer.

I like No.1 and think No.2 is boring. I agree with two other people here who say "more depth of field" !!!

Thank you all for the advice. Next time I will use a larger DOF.
