Hey guys, I'm going up north next week to go to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium... Ive never really shot at an aquarium of this size before, so im not sure of what to bring or how to really take good photos at one? especially since its indoors and dark, do I bring a tripod? what would be the best lens to bring?

The fastest lens you got. Most things are moving so you'll need the highest shutter speeds you can manage. Some tanks are well lit while others are really dark at Monterey. A tripod won't hurt, but the 17-55 seemed to do a good enough job for me there.

If you're allowed, put your flash on an off camera shoe cord and hold it directly to the glass. Gets the light in the water and eliminates glare off the glass.

Buy a rubber lens hood Like this one. http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-Screw-Collapsible-Rubber-Shade/dp/B001K3G3EI/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1254023017&sr=8-9 It will allow you to push it to the glass, and also gives some freedom of movement.

Take your fastest lens, and wear black clothes to minimize any reflection in the glass.

I think that the OP has got it covered at this point fellas. ;) Considering he went to the aquarium in June. :)
