So Fabrice happens to be my summer house's neighbor's son (lol) and so I emailed him about an internship, after meeting him several times. He reported back after seeing my flickr, that he doesn't say it often but he thinks i have a shooters eye blah blah blah...

SOooo.. basically I get to be his sort of intern for some fashion shoots in NYC.

and I'm curious to know people's suggestions or comments..

(imo this is a great opportunity to learn since I'm still only 17)

Well, checked out his website. He's done some great friggin' work. All I could tell you is, learn as much as you can! You've been given an amazing opportunity.

Looks like a great opportunity. Make the most of it, and don't be too good to fetch coffee. Suck in everything that you can!

He does great work, though his "Vogue" processing leaves me a bit cold, but you need to set yourself out from the crowd & that's what sells in NYC.
You have a great opportunity there & will learn more in 6 months than you would in 4 years in a "real school"!
When he's not too busy, ask good questions. Then shut up & listen. ;)

Impressive portfolio! Its interesting that for his career his main interest is portraits and fashion, but for his personal work he does landscapes. Even more interesting, his landscapes are subpar to his other work.
