Well, I purchased my new A40 Camera Ive installed all the CD software that came with it, including the ARC software.

Now taking pictures is no problem and Ive been doing so for the past day, but when I plug the Camera in VIA the USB and try to use it on Microsoft Messenger it seems it doesnt pick up the camera and I cannot use it for conferecing.

Ive gone through the manual loads of time checking to see if it is compatible as most digital cameras are, but I cant seem to find a solution as to how to get this working.

The Camera is plugged in via USB and is powered by an AC adaptor. Please help somebody :)

Thanks for reading this and sorry if this seems a very newbie question but Im very new to this technology :)

Kind Regards

You can not use the a40 as a webcam. There is no internal hardware to do this. I do not know why you would want to do this anyways as you would waste your batteries, and the picture quality would be no better than that of a cheap webcam which you can pick up for $20.

I agree with the previous contributor about not using your digicam as a webcam. It can be done, usually if you have a video capture card or TV capture card installed in your computer but it has the added problem of switching off after a couple of minutes. Yes spend the money on a dedicated webcam with a built in microphone or buy a headset with microphone attached.
