This is the first time I have really shot a young baby and was really pleased with the out come. This is Kai and he is only six weeks old, bless him. So I will start this off please post your best young ones.

I use stretch velvet from a fabric store. If there is a Jo-Ann fabrics look for a coupon first online, the stuff is never on sale.

This is 6 week old Charlotte from a shoot a few weeks ago. Babies are soooo beautiful to work with, but my gosh - also very time consuming! Will definitely get a baby pose book together before the next shoot.. ;)

OK I am trying to figure out how you get this shot... do you have someone hold the babies head? All the babies I get my paws on are awful floppy to try to get this but my daughter will be having a new baby soon for me to practice on... :)

Nope, nobody is holding their heads up, I just pose them, and a little trick is to hold them in place until you feel them "release" When you are moving them around they will be a little resistant unless they are completely out, so holding them until they sort of let go of their resistance helps, then snap away :) HTH

WOW some awesome shots.
Please help me with that first pose... how do you get baby to do that? I've tried it several times but every baby starts looking for her bottle or faces down, sucking her arm or whatever but I never get them into that posision without waking them. Help if you don't mind...

^I think thats a beautiful shot. The white of her eyes are a little lavender though?

Possibly, there's a lot of light reflecting off her pink blanket and shirt...that's why you can see some purple in her eyes just below the pupil...I kinda like it though.

A friend of my wife baby at somewhere around 1 or 2 months old.

my wife was holding the baby, all natural light through a window, no ps just light room, used custom brush to darken what my wife was wearing holding the baby. and very minor tweaks to it other wise
