Wanted to ask a question about the spacer for the Raynox 6600 wide lens and the Canon TC-DC52 2.4X Teleconverter(sold at lensmateonline.com), at present I am about to buy the Canon A80 thru second hand and with the package it already has both of the lens I mentioned on this mail and an original Canon A80 converter, honestly speaking, does anyone know if I still need the custom spacer for using with the original Canon converter?
Can anyone help on this issue??
Thanx!!!!

The Canon or similar after market spacer or adapter is necessary to attach any converter lenses. The fixed lens on most all-in-one digicams pops out from the camera for any picture taking. The spacer for the A80 gives you something to attach the converter lens to, and also leaves a space for the camera lens to operate properly. I hope that I have properly understood your question.

third party lenses usually require spacers to improve picture quality. I think www.lensmateonline.com (http://www.lensmateonline.com) has a compatibility chart that shows if the lens needs an spacer and some sample photos that shows images with and with out the spacer.

Yes, you need the custom spacer! The 2,4x Canon Teleconverter was intended for the A75. Due to different design on placement of the lense, you must have the custom spacer. I tried without, and the pictures gets blurry. I bought the spacer at Lensemate.com (you can also see the difference in pictures provided by Lensemate.com).
TIP! Also buy the aluminum spacers (at lensemate), one for each lens. Then you can change lenses in a hurry (and you won't miss the ****ty plastic spacers from Canon :-)
