I am more of a landscape photo enthusiast but when my buddy recently finished restoring his car I had some fun taking a few pics. First post in this forum so I hope I don't mess things up. More pics of the car are available at http://photos.wardphotonet.com/GalleryFilmstrip.aspx?gallery=213168&photo=7114873

i like the car, the pics for me are ok. i dont really like the flash, it kinda washes out the color of the car. but thats just me. other wise nice pics.

did you photoshop the last one? Looks like the engine was rotated back. It has a perspective thing for me...

Yes I did use Photoshop. Best of my recollection is I did a curves adjustment to deemphasize some of the background. I did two shots of car head on...one hood open and one hood closed. Cut the engine out then laid it on top of closed hood version as a new pixel bearing layer, blended in one of the darkening modes at reduced opacity and voila. As a said I am not a car guy and your are right I may have whiffed on engine compartment placement. Also agree that flash despite a diffuser may have created some washing of the yellow in spots but interestingly the stock yellow is not as dark as you would think. Thanks for the pointers.

The colors don't stick out as much as the flat looking air filter. Were they 2 different angled pictures? Otherwise I like :)

Same angle and DOF shot on tripod. I may tweak it a bit more. Thanks for the comments.

I've looked carefully at the album set & these are comments and not criticizms because I know it's not your car. Do you know if it's a real Yenko YSC? A few things don't look right if it's supposed to be. The most obvious may be due to lighting but the color looks like Butternut Yellow rather than Daytona Yellow, which was used in 69. Also the console & shifter look like they may be aftermarket but from a later era, but I could be wrong because I can't see it from a higher angle. It also looks to be too high in the rear. Some of the tire should be hidden by the quarter panel. The Tachometer may be correct for a Yenko but most people then were using a Sun Tach, which at the time seemed to be the most reliable & most accurate.
As for the shot you Photoshopped it's interesting but unfortunately somehow looks wrong. I can't figure out why (based on the fact you used a tripod to be consistant) but the air cleaner does look too high relative to where I would expect to see it. It may just be the look, but it seems high.

Nice ride. I think I'm seeing PP artifacts in #1 on top of the spoiler & other edge areas. Try this next time: Selecting areas in PS. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39994)

It is a stock Yenko. It has the original bill of sale signed by Yenko in 1969 for something like $3500 with $280 in upgrades including shifter etc. My friend received this as a high school graduation present (nice parents:)) and then converted to use for a turn on the NHRA circuit. He is the original owner and returned it to its original condition this year for its 40th "birthday". If you have more specific questions you could contact him through the info provided on my website.

Thanks for the link. I did a quick selection using various tools and brushes in haste:( to get a few pics out for cars coming out party. Tips should help cleaning it up a bit.

Thanks re the extra info. Your friend is in a very small club since there can't be very many 1 owner Yenko's or COPO's. I'm a lot more familiar with the COPO's and because most of them were 4 speeds I haven't seen an automatic with anything but a GM shifter. Is that a Stewart Warner tach in his? It looks like it might be, and they were about the only other choice that era for a decent tach.
