Ooh, man. I just did a shoot similar to this with a dark skinned bride and pale groom... makes exposure REALLY tough.

That being said, I think #1 and #2 are a little too hot in the background and the whites. And their skin, teeth, and eyes are way too retouched for my likes in #2. I always treat engagements as casual life shoots, and try not to overprocess. She looks like plastic in #2.

Sorry if I'm being tough, but if you shot in RAW, you should be able to correct these problems easily.

Ohh Sheesh,, What a nightmare...

you've got a dark woman and a white guy and as if that wasn't hard enough they throw in a bright white dog,,, This is definitely when shooting raw is a must.

I like the silhouette. Very nice.

The first twor shots have too much contrast - that is, the highlights are going overboard and the shadows are too deep.

The last shot is a great idea, but they are out of focus while the drinks are sharp. I think you need either all of it be sharp or at least the couple be sharp and let the drinks be a little soft.

thanks for the feedback. I did shoot raw but since CS2 doesnt recognize raw files from a 40D, I had to use DPP to convert to jpeg. I will take off the portraiture high key from #1 and take smoothing off #2 I guess. For #4, that is what they requested.

+1 I also love the silhouette. I may just have to borrow that idea for my engagement shoot coming up... thanks.:D

#2 Looks like you went CRAZY with airbrushing.. lost almost all texture in the faces.. just looks unnatural..

Thank you for posting this. I would have never thought of the difficulties the simple issue of subject color would bring to a shoot.

I guess I have homework :-)
