I shoot sanctioned bicycle races on the weekends. After quite a while of selling prints from a website, somebody's asked about buying a source file for a photograph.

As I've never done this before, I know zilch about price structure for that, or even how to transmit/transfer the file.

Can anyone out there help?

Thanks!
Don

No idea either, ask them for clarification. They probably mean a "digital negative" or raw file, is my guess.

Find out why they want the file. Personal use (making prints) or for something else?

I've asked for an explanation of purpose, and am waiting for an answer. Any ideas about transmitting/transferring a file? What about generalities concerning pricing?

thanks again....

There's always yousendit, if your email client can't send that large of a file.

It really depends on the usage and what the image is of. Is it just of a single rider, group of riders or sponsor-type stuff?

Is the subject of the photo the one that wants it or is it a third-party?

Someone will just want it for their computer and to print. Just sell it for the price of a larger print, otherwise they'll just buy a print and scan it. If you sell the file just email it.

Thanks for the input, folks!

I'll wait until I hear from him about usage before I worry too much about it.

Regards!
