The i3 is probably the i7 920 and the i5 is probably the i7 950. ;)

i was hoping for i3 to be a 4 virtual cores, i5 to be 6, and i7 to be 8 as we have now. but your interpretation makes sense too

A photographer will most likely want the tri channel models, as Adobe have said memory bandwidth is one of the biggest problems they face trying to make Photoshop faster.

Personally, I don't care what the new specs are... I'm just happy that the Intel plant in my city is hiring again. :D This means that more houses will be built, bought and sold, and I'll keep my job for just a little bit longer.

Haha, I just built my computer yesterday. I'm happy though, it beats my old 2ghz duo core with 2gig RAM.

What mobo do you have? I have the ASUS Rampage Extreme II, which is supposed to be easy to OC, but I only assembled my computer yesterday and haven't gotten around to OCing...
Thanks, this thing is a beast and is night and day from the old one.

They make it very clear that the chart is pure speculation, something the website have made on thier own and try and out think Intel.
It has a lot of problems, and includes sockets, like the 775, that Intel have said will be discontinued.
I would expect the Atom brand to continue as a small, mobile proccesor and the Celeron and Pentium brands to be used for a dual core for laptops and budget computers.
I would expect a range of dual core chips, with on board memory controllers.
The i3, i5 and i7 brands will then be used for the new quad and six core chips.
Hopefully the i3 will be a laptop chip, the i5 a high end, consumer level quad core and the i7 a workstation and server level four and six core.
But, like that chart, I am just making all of this up.

I hope they standarise on one socket.
