Hey everyone
Next May 13th I am going to Ottawa for the Tulip Festival. Does anyone knows a photo store in Ottawa where I can rent a good macro lens? I know here in Toronto Vistek www.vistek.ca (http://www.vistek.ca/) , but I would like to have the lens for just a day, instead of 3, since I am going to spend the weekend there.

I don't know about Ottawa, but if you rent from Vistek on a weekend it only counts as one day. If you pick up the lens after 3:30 on the friday and have it back before 10:30 on Monday, they consider that only one day.

To vistek, the weekend is considered a day.... given that you rent past a certain time on friday and return it by a certain time on monday.
I think.
Call them for more details.

I'll second Ginn.
Got my D60, 28-135 and 16-35L there.
Decent selection of lens.
Suggest contact on web site to reserve though. Be sure they have what you want.
See you there:D

In biggger cities or very local shops you can usually rent lenses and some other equipment.

I heard of a store that rented stuff out an hour away from Ottawa, but when I contacted them they had no idea what I was talking about. Also I asked him and others if they knew of anyone in ottawa and no one had a clue.
If blacks has a 30 day money back guarante you could "rent" it there, hehe, jk.

Hmm I wonder if I can rent a Digital Rebel XT and a 20D and compare them. I know that there is no comparison but I'd love to be able to play around with both of them. Only way I know is to max out one of my CCs and buy both and return one. Only drawback with that, I might keep the more pricier one and I only take pictures for the fun of it so an extra Grand might be too much to pay for a hobby and I might aswell spend it on a lens. From what I have read the XT and 20D are very similar with the 20D having a few more options.

Thanks everybody for the tips! I just sent an email to Ginn and in case this does not work, I will go for Vistek. But there I will pay 2 days, because I am heading Ottawa at 2:30 PM, so I will be geting the lens by 1:30, which will be considered a 2 day rental.

Mission acomplished! I booked the lens on Ginn Photo in Ottawa. Thanks for IanD and JAZZ D.P.G. for the tip. The lens rental is $25/day. Just perfect!
Wait for my tupip pics later on! :)
