ok so I'm pretty sure I'm not an idiot. and I've done quite a bit of web stuff in the past although not much in the last few years but I'm having a hell of a time assigning a unique domain name to my zenfolio account.

Zenfolio's directions are pretty terrible and contradictory depending on what part of their site you access the info from. I know I need to create and an "A record" and I a "cname". I've done this, when I set up one, the other reverts back to the default. the whole 48 hours total BS doesn't help, I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to have domains set up. But even after 48 hours things are not getting resloved.

just wondering if anyone else has used 1&1 for hosting and directed their domain to zenfolio?

thanks in advance

thanks I read through that thread yesterday. the problem is that the control panel for 1&1 for editing dns settings is set up differently than what is outlined in the godaddy description.

1@1 has no where to enter the "www" or "@" in the settings. it's all one line. then there is another option or version where it's asking for name servers and you have to have two; entering the IP address does not work and the only name address is the zenfolio.com address. So I'm confused.

Give their customer service a call and see if they can walk you through it - about the only option you have.

yeah that's what messed mine up, I don't think you can do that and set up an 'A' record the two canceled each other out or something. I got it to work finally. I have it setup with a "cname" and an 'A' record.
