Dale's '63 Dodge Polara has a Max Wedge 426cid motor, bored & stroked to 460ci, & putting out 800bhp. It has a dual quad cross ram manifold, .640" lift roller cam & 13.5:1 compression ratio. Transmission is C7 pushing a 4.56 rear end.

Back then, you could buy this car right out of the showroom. It runs in the low 10 seconds. He's had it for 4 years.

off topic but on the side view, did you get any pictures of that truck in the background?

Love the old Mopars, but it would look better with old school wheels (in my opinion)
We reciently had a local car show where a guy showed up with a '64 Thunderbolt with the same wheels. Killed the effect of an old car.

Thanks, Wally! pictures of that truck in the background? Not this time. Why? Are you thinking of a new career?
He'll be back & I'll get a few for you. would look better with old school wheels I agree. American Mags would be my choice. Or maybe little "dog dishes" for the street? ;)

Thanks for the comments.

O/T, Frank, do you follow any F.A.S.T. stuff? (Factory Appearance, Stock Tires) Someone just put a Plymouth sixpack INTO THE 10's, bear in mind no slicks and no headers

Great pics as usual, but I'm just not a fan of the 63's. I owned a 64 426 Dodge "440" (body) back then

Nice shots of a nice car. I like the fact that he upgraded to a dual master cylinder for safety. Anytime I see one of those oldies running a single cylinder I get a tight stomach. They are too valuable to risk plowing into someone or something. I don't mind the Weld Wheels but I do agree that a set of Cragar SS's or old style Americans would look more period correct.

I like all the shots a lot, but I gotta tell ya that is not a hemi. It is a wedge motor, but it sure ain't no hemi.

do you follow any F.A.S.T. stuff? (Factory Appearance, Stock Tires) I'm out of the loop on most current info, but that 10 seconds sounds interesting, & I'll ask around. I'm just not a fan of the 63's. Personally, I like the earlier '62 Dart, like this one. (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=364465) Small, light, fast, & ugly as they come? Actually, I like them all. It is a wedge motor, but it sure ain't no hemi. I think you're right. The the Stage III MWedge 426 was the precursor to the '64 Hemis. I get foggy on 40 year old details. ;)

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Frank, he right. That's a wedge for certain. The Hemi has BIG valve covers with the spark plugs going down through them.

PhotosGuy didn't say it was a HEMI. He said it was a 426 Wedge. Who said it was a HEMI USteve? Great pics of this old Mopar. It is a RACE car, that is why he is running the after market wheels. I love these old Mopars, and I think it looks just fine.

He's edited it. It originally said Max Wedge 426 Hemi, which was an easy to make mistake since the vast majority of 426's are Hemi's. I missed that when first reading it because I went for the photos rather than the description. Whenever you say 426 you think Hemi, and I'm sure he did too.

If I'm not mistaken, the original post, prior to being edited, stated that it was a 426 max wedge hemi. It now says that it is a 426 max wedge. . .
