Went to the game today and had a major hickup.

The day before, my 4 year old daughter wanted to take photos of me with my MKII, so I took my CF card out of my camera in order not to have a ton of photos I would have to delete. We pretended to take them. I did not notice I forgot to put the card back in till I pulled the camera out to set it up during the national anthem at today's game. I cursed a couple of times and started to put my equipment away, when I noticed a photog in the well with a MK series camera. I told my buddy I was with, that I was gonna try and buy a card from him. I figured what the h*ll, he could only say no and I would still have to put my camera equipment away anyhow. So I walked over 1 section and 3 rows down and politely excused myself to this man and explained what I had done and inquired if I could buy a CF card from him. He said, "No, but I can do you one better than that since I have done that in the past too. I will lend you a card if you promise to send it back to me." I graciously acepted the 1Gig card and gave him my Sheriffs Department buisness card. He handed me his card. It said:

Associated Press
Marcio Sanchez
San Francisco, Ca

I was so happy Marcio lent me a card, I thanked him several times and headed over to my seats. As I sat down, Marcio called me back over and handed me a second 1 Gig card. He said I am guessing you are shooting in RAW and will need more than just 1 Gig. I thanked Marcio again and headed off to shoot.

I called Marcio after I got home and thanked him again for lending me the cards. He told me about his experiance as a 6 year AP Photographer, and offered to meet up to discuss about sports photography. I have seen his photos for many years in the local newspapers, and magazines such as Sports Illustrated.

I am so glad that there are people like him in the world still. In my profession, I only get to see the bad part of society. It is always reasuring when I meet people like him. It helps remind me not every one is like the people I meet day in and day out in my job. So Marcio if you do join this forum, I again thank you!

Great story. My experience with the pro's has been great too. I left them alone to do their job, but during the dead time (golf) they were happy to share tips to a novice like me.

Great story! It's nice to hear a story of how a true professional acts. He's been there, done that, knows the score and does the right thing when an opportunity presents itself.

Good to hear that people help each other out, but did you really only possess ONE memory card to work with?

I sent the cards back to him yesterday.:p

I have 4 cards, but keep one in my camera at all times. I took my motorcycle to the game along with the 300 2.8 lens, the camera, 2 batteries, and the 1.4 TX into my backpack. Nothing else would fit. I left all my camera equipment in my camera bag at home. No way I could cary that thing on my motorcycle. Here is another shot. It is my favorite photo I have taken of Lincecum to date.

The best part of the story is that the Angel's swept.

All kidding aside, great story and glad it worked out for you. I was really bummed when I went to an Angels game with my gear only to realize I left my battery on the charger and didn't bring any extras.

Looks like you also had great seats right near first base.
