Anyone know if this type of shooting, Tripod in middle of car is illegal in California? I figure as long as its secure, and its not going to impede your control of the car, I should be fine.
Slowly getting better with my 350d. What you think?

Cool shots.
Without seeing your set-up I would say that you should be ok as long as it doesn't interfere with the driver.
Of course that doesn't mean that some bored, humorless cop won't try to make a big deal out of it. In that case the correct answer is "Sorry officer I didn't know. It won't happen again."...... and as he drives off into the sunset...."Jerk"

I actually have a camera bracket attached to my rollbar that is situated right between the seat backs looking forward. It was designed for a video camera but I imagine that it would be easily adapted to my XT.

Is it the driver taking these shots or the passenger.....I understand it to be the driver?!! I would have thought you'd be stopped in the UK for this, they pull you over for drinking or using your mobile, so taking pics must be the same. Cool shots though. How about out the sunroof?

This Car Does have a sun roof. But, that would probably be even more of a problem, as the tripod would be in my rear view mirror.
Yes, I was shooting. Set on manual, 30sec exposure - f/11. Usually whenever I could, would reach back and click. I have my remote now, lost it at work. The trick is to judge when you could hit the shutter without causing a problem when youre driving, and once you know where to reach it isnt hard.

Everything is illegal in California except getting there illegally. That's legal. And you mispoke. You won't be fine, you will probably be fined. The people's republic of CA does not appreciate pictures escaping to the outside....especially of their traffic situation.
