hey everyone! I've looked through every thread I could find before posting this. I'm looking for a bag that can be an everyday, grab my camera and go sort of bag. I'd like to get another Crumpler that's a "grab my camera and go," bag that's light enough to not put too much stress on my shoulder/back. I have a Crumpler 6MDH for all my gear right now and I love it. It holds everything. However, when I wanna go shoot just for me, I don't need everything. I can get by with a couple good lenses.

I'd like to keep one extra lens in the bag with memory cards, cleaning cloth/lenspen, extra battery, along with a 5D mk 2 and Tamron 28-75 on the camera. I'd like to get another Crumpler that's a "grab my camera and go," bag that's light enough to not put too much stress on my shoulder/back. I'm torn between the 3MDH and 4MDH. I'm just not sure which would be the best option for the 5D because all the descriptions say "compact dSLR," and I wouldn't call that a "compact." No grip on the 5D. Please help!

Oh no...does no one have a 3 or 4MDH Crumpler to give review? :(

I've got a 4MDH and put my XT in it with not too much room left over. I don't think the 5DmkII would fit in there. I think you would have to go to the 5MDH for that.

I would agree with ylimehajile.

Another option -- though you would need to get confirmation on whether it'd fit -- is the Domke F-5XB. It's a small, one-lens-only bag that might be a better bet than the 5MDH...
[Edit -- I missed that the OP wanted one lens mounted and another in the bag as well.]

(FYI -- the 5MDH will be able to carry the 5DII with the 28-75 mounted and possibly another small lens. I wrote a review of it here if you're interested in my gear: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=645282)

Wouldn't try the F5XB with camera and 2 lenses. 5D and a 28-75, sure, but anything other than a very small prime will be too big to join it.

Regarding the 5MDH (which I bought recently for exactly this purpose) I was able to fit a gripped Rebel with a mounted Canon 17-85 IS with hood reversed in the middle section, Canon 55-250 IS and a Canon 430 EX II together in one side section and a Sigma 105 macro in the other side section. There was plenty of room in the front pocket for a Canon OC-E3 off-camera flash cord (the connectors on this cord are fairly bulky) and a few memory cards. So it's quite possible to fit a camera with 3 consumer-size lenses and a flash in it. I've never held a 5D, but it seems that it can't be much bigger than a Rebel with a grip.

Oops... missed the first part of her request. I only read the "5DII and 28-75." Good catch!

The 4MDH will fit a 5D and lens as well as one more lens or flash.

The 5MDH will fit a small prime under the camera grip and even another lens or a flash on the side. :)

dima1109 seems to be able to fit more in the bag than me though so it'll be good for a essentials bag plus some more room for things.

A good shoulder pad will help with the weight. I spend almost the whole day today with my bag and billingham shoulder pad. 10D+tamron 17-50, Tokina 11-16, 580EXII, 2 spare bp11 batteries, 4 extra AA's and some odds and ends. Not too bad on the back and shoulder.
