Howdy all,

I will be visiting oklahoma city and atlanta next week (coming from australia) and want to buy a digital slr, most probably the canon rebel xt.

Where is a good place to buy in these two cities? would one be better than the other?

Any recomendations on what lense to get with it, just starting out so need a good allrounder.

many thanks

In Atlanta there is a Ritz Camera Superstore on 14th street. They are a rather large chain here in the states, so expect to pay full retail. You might also try KEH camera, www.Keh.com also located in Atlanta.

Hope you enjoy your stay!

Is there any tax that I will have to pay once the price has been agreed on?

In australia the tax is included in the ticket price but not so sure about the states.

Are there any other charges to be aware of other than the old "bait and switch"?

Thanks for your help

Trent

Tax is not figured into the price beforehand like many other countries. I think in Atlanta state and local taxes add upto 7% of the purchase price.

Also note that KEH ( www.keh.com ) does NOT have a retail walk-in store. They are solely internet and telephone sales.

As for tax, each individual state has their own tax rate with add-on city or county taxes if applicable. Most states have some sort of sales tax, including Georgia. Internet orders are exempt from state sales taxes if the seller does not have any brick-and-mortar operation within that state.
