Stunning shots, but can't get over how you get those eyes to pop like that. Got any tricks of the trade for us?

LOL, I don't even try to get her to stay still....a complete lost cause. I follow her around & just wait for the milisecond she stops moving. (oh, and you are so sweet!)

Thanks, I actually get the flower child kind of comment pretty frequently when I take her out dressed like that. :)

Thank you! For the eyes....she naturally has great blue eyes...especially in the right light. I always try to get good catchlight when taking the shot. In PS I just sharpen them & dodge the highlights to make them stand out. :)

Showed Missus Skygod these, and apart from a fairly predictible "wow...she's perfect", she has a typical of my wife kinda question for you:

"Are those homemade clothes?"

Missus S asks because she thinks they're perfectly suited to your daughter, which is not so easy to do when you buy from a shop.

Missus Skygod wasn't the only one to wonder that. This is from post#4

I think I've said it before, but just in case........Your daughter has got to be the most naturally beautiful little girl I think I have ever seen, and your photographs of her are breathtaking.

Lovely pics and you have a beautiful little girl.

Could you give me some info on lens(es) used, any post processing and this might sound daft, but how far were you from her?

And for the novice (which is me) how do you go about making sure the eyes are so sharply in focus (this is something I struggle with all the time)?

Cheers!

Okay, I'll try to help you out as much as I can.....I'm by far an expert, but I'll try! The lens I use most ofter is the 24-70mm 2.8L....also reffered to as my 3rd child. Really awesome lens.......really helps w/the quality of my pics, as my camera is only a Rebel XTi. For the eyes, they are always my fave part of a face, so I make sure that that is where my focus point is.

Now as for PP, it varies quite often. I try not to do the same thing all the time. I'm a fan of bright saturated colors, so I use my friend the sponge tool to saturate only certain areas. I also use curves adjustment, sharpen the overall shot, unsharp mask usually set on 30, 60, 10. I also always dodge the highlights in the eyes to make them really pop. I also sometimes use a little bit of Topaz Adjust to add a little extra oomph & bring out a little more detail.....I never use it on the skin though. Hope that helps.....I usually suck at explaining stuff like this!

Very appealing! If only I had images like this of mine when they were that age...

#5 is great...it does seem to get very dark right at the bottom of the image though.
