I was standing out in he dark by myself thinking these things would look the same if I took the picture in a year or ten years. But the stars are only out once a month these days -

This is 3 30sec. exposures with the Canon 50D and 17-55mm2.8 at 55/2.8, 2500 ISO on a DS2000 Meade mount, vaguely aligned -

That is incredible! Where were the shots taken? Around here the light pollution makes any kind of night sky shots impossible. Also, how did you stack the shots?

Very nice. I see you captured the Antares/Rho Ophiuchi region at the right hand side. It's a beautiful part of the sky.

These are taken in the parking lot of Pitcher Mountain in southwest NH. I filtered out a lot of skyglow in Photoshop. They aren't stacked, it's PhotoMerge'd in Photoshop.

And that Antares/Rho Ophiuchi area is nice - I hope I get a chance to get more of that sometime. Nowhere else seems to have the red/yellow/blue areas so close together. You can just barely see them in this shot.

Great shot, you grabbed a lot in 90 sec.

Thanks. I thought they were stacked. Merged makes the shot look even more impressive to me. Excellent job!

Thanks, everyone. And that shot of Antares/Rho is just what I had in mind. I guess at that exposure the galactic center would be overexposed -

Your shot is very inspiring. If we weren't under a thick layer of heavy thunderstorms right now I'd be out on a hill top with my son trying to get some shots right now...

great shot. Really want to try and get some of the old milk myself, not sure if my skies will let me though.
