View Full Version : Can I make it???? [11 images from last Wedding]

Ok I have been shooting as a second for a little while, and I LOVE being 2nd. I want to ask a 3 part question.. based on this selection (i know it is hard to gauge on a few from 1 wedding, and fyi these are from ONLY 1 wedding this last Sat.)

1) do i have what it takes to be a lead photographer?

2) If i become a "lead" will i ever be able to catch the "artistic" shots like this, due to being tied up in the "posed" shots etc..

3)Is there any way to shoot as a seccond and get shots like this... and also be able to make "lead" pay?

They look awesome. But remember.... weddings only happen once (well, we hope so :))... so you have to make sure that the majority of your shots come out like this... not just one in a dozen :)

Kev, thanks for your input, I Definately agree 100% percent, and that is why i wrote

Hang out your own shingle and find out.

Whether or not you'll be able to be the "lead" photographer at this point will be decided by whether you can open your own business, pay for the advertising, pay phone bill, book the weddings, hassle with the labs, etc.

You have the talent and the technology. You just need your own business.

I agree also.
You have the talent, it's just putting it all together, with a successful business plan, so you can make money from several good weddings in a season, rather than just a couple through friends of friends. I would be pleased with those shots for my own wedding. :)
